First Presbyterian Church of Fresno is one of the few thriving churches remaining in Fresno’s downtown. As the congregation has grown and changed over time, it was determined that new spaces designed to support outdoor activity were needed.

A new façade was designed to be more welcoming and attract new members not only from downtown neighborhoods, but from across the whole community.

Traditional church forms and massing were translated to this composition, including a renovation of the existing tower that was too short. The height of the tower was increased and dormers were added to the stained glass windows that line the nave to carefully create a new identity.
