MIXED USE: Warehouse Row | Fresno, CA | Unbuilt

Warehouse Row was a study to investigate adaptive reuse options for a series of failing unreinforced masonry industrial structures on Broadway Avenue in downtown Fresno. The roof had previously collapsed on one of the structures. The “opening” in the roof was used as inspiration to add above the adjacent warehouse structures and focus activity where the opening existed. The concept featured development of the ground level of the north and south buildings as secured parking with the opening in the roof of the central building as the location for a Courtyard and Community Room. Exterior balconies facing the Courtyard allowed entry at three levels above grade to flats and lofts. An adjacent structure that had suffered less damage than the others was proposed as a permanent home for the Fresno Youth Symphony and included performance spaces, office, and a lobby.
