To better serve the community near a local high school, the Fresno County Public Library system acquired a vacant grocery store to replace the strip mall library space that had served this community for decades. The contemporary and vibrant new home for the Betty Rodriguez Regional Library is over twice the size of the outdated former space, which lacked access to technology, spaces for programs, and an engaging character.

Modern libraries are no longer exclusively built for books and quiet reading. Among many unique features in this library is the “Imagination Space,” which serves as a place for patrons to design and build their creations utilizing 3D printing, Virtual Reality technology, and other tools otherwise not readily available to them. This technology-rich library provides computers and a variety of reading materials for all ages to attract the entire neighborhood that it serves.

At its heart, the Betty Rodriguez Regional Library is designed to be a gathering place for the community, and through that, to provide its patrons with technology and services that will encourage life-long learning for many years to come.
