HIGHER EDUCATION: Peters Business Building Expansion | California State University, Fresno | Unbuilt
The MBA for Executives (EMBA) program at the Craig School of Business allows candidates to attend on-campus classes on Saturdays for eight weekends out of a 10-week block (8:00-5:00 PM). Executives will be able to earn their MBA in less than 17 months (including the monthly breaks). Space within the Peters Business Building is not conducive to the curricular needs of this popular program that emphasizes the development of multidiscipline skills, integration with other disciplines, collaborative teamwork, effective communication, critical thinking, and a global perspective. The program for this proposed expansion calls for two state-of-the-art tiered classrooms separated by an acoustical operable partition. Each classroom has a flat floor "break –out" space at the rear that can also be closed off from the classroom as well. This concept allows maximum flexibility for teaching, seating arrangement, and comfort by allowing ample space for a single class, a class with break out space immediately adjacent, or both classrooms and both breakout spaces opened to create a large space that could accommodate receptions, a large class, lectures and other events. A renovated plaza and separate entry will create a more visible and active connection between the University and the business community. A north facing clerestory coupled with an innovative LED indirect lighting system will ensure balanced light quality and a pleasant learning environment.
